Electrical (Hardware Engineer)

  • Strong background in electromagnetic (EM) and microwave theory
  • Expertise in radio frequency (RF), intermediate frequency (IF), and mixed signal design.  Candidate must have working knowledge of all aspects of analysis, design and implementation of complex, high performance RF subsystems. 
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of passive and active RF components such as amplifiers, oscillators, attenuators, mixers, filters, synthesizers, transmission lines, S-parameters (matching networks, cascade analysis), gain budget analysis [gain, noise figure (NF), linearity, noise power], and filtering (types, bandwidth, implementations) is desired.
  • Ability to debug prototype hardware and firmware using lab instrument and PC-based development software
  • Conduct lab and field tests to validate the design
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, software engineers, quality engineers, and technicians to create custom solutions and innovative hardware designs
  • Familiarity with schematic capture, PCB layout and analysis software.  Familiarity with BGA parts a plus.  Experience with IPC/JEDEC standards, design for manufacturability (DFM), trace impedance control, and signal integrity on complicated multi-layer PCB layouts.
  • Experience with software defined transceivers and super-heterodyne receivers
  • Familiarity with AM, FM, FSK, ASK, etc. modulation/demodulation schemes and design of modem transceivers
  • Knowledge of Altium Designer, Matlab, and Sonnet

The qualified candidate will have at least a BSEE degree or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience.  Being a team player is a must. 

 

Embedded Systems Software Engineer

  • Experience in radio frequency (RF), intermediate frequency (IF), and mixed signal theory, design, implementation, and validation
  • Theoretical and practical experience in embedded digital signal processing on field programmable gate array (FPGA) and digital signal processing (DSP) chips.
  • This position will be responsible for all phases of simulation and software development targeting embedded DSP systems, including design, coding, integration, and debugging of major portions of DSP software projects such as fast Fourier transform (FFTs), digital filters [cascaded integrator comb (CIC), finite impulse response (FIR), etc.], real-time signal processing systems and other embedded DSP applications running on dedicated DSP and general purpose microcontroller hardware.
  • Simulation and design of embedded digital signal processing on Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and digital signal processing (DSP) chips with Matlab, Xilinx and Texas Instrument tools.
  • Design and development of digital modems. digital modulation techniques, active noise cancellation techniques, equalization techniques, and adaptive filters design
  • Familiarity with AM, FM, FSK, ASK, etc. modulation/demodulation schemes
  • Algorithm design to analyze and extract time and frequency domain data.
  • Working knowledge and experience with packet based protocols.
  • Ability to debug prototype hardware and firmware using lab-instrument and PC-based development software

The qualified candidate will have BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, BSEE or equivalent combination of Training & Experience; & 5+ years related experience.  Being a team player is a must. 

 

Mechanical Design Engineer
The position will require the design of varying mechanical systems in support of sensitive radio geophysical equipment. The candidate will also oversee the manufacturing and testing of all designed prototypes in the on-site facility, communicate with customers and work fluently in a team environment.
The qualified candidate will have at least a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent with a combined education and work experience of 8 years minimum.

  • Ability to work in a team environment with engineers and technicians from multiple disciplines is a MUST
  • Self motivated with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Detail oriented with satisfactory writing and communication skills 
  • Proficient in the use of solid modeling software (Solid Works preferred) for design
  • High level of computer literacy to include Microsoft office, internet, etc.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing practices and materials (Design for Manufacturability)
  • Experience in machining, fabrication processes and use of composite materials
  • Ability to travel in support of the systems in various climates, conditions, and locations
  • Legal U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret-level security clearance

 

Technician

A pioneering manufacturer of geo-physical imaging systems is seeking an electronics field service technician to operate, install, service, and conduct training on all end-user products. The position involves frequent travel.   As a representative of this innovative organization the candidate will be interacting with leading scientists and engineers at some of the most advanced research laboratories in the world. When not at customer sites the candidate will be improving system hardware and procedures, manufacturing additional systems, systems R&D, and providing technical assistance to customers while working at local headquarters located in Raton, NM.

The qualified candidate will have at least a 2-year technical degree in electronics or equivalent military training in a related field and 5-10 years of related experience.   A thorough understanding of basic electricity and analog/digital theory is required.   Candidate must have the ability to read or create wiring diagrams, schematics, electronic/mechanical drawings, and technical operation manuals.  Must have experience in installing, troubleshooting and servicing instrumentation and/or electromechanical systems. Must have the ability to safely use 30-pound man-carried system in many different climates and landscapes.   Must possess computer skills, have a solid mechanical aptitude, and possess organizational and strong communication skills.  Must have a strong ability to maintain high level of productivity and attention to detail while working independently. Being a team player is a must.  Possessing a security clearance is a plus.  Experience in a research and development environment is also plus.

  • Spectrum Analyzer
